Texas Privacy Protection Act (TPPA) & Texas Business & Commerce Code § 521
Texas requires notification within 60 days and requires companies to notify the Texas AG when a breach affects 250 or more Texans. The TPPA — effective July 2024 — added comprehensive consumer rights including data access, deletion, and correction, creating broader liability for companies that mishandle Texan data.
Texas residents now have comprehensive data rights under the TPPA. Companies face up to $7,500 per violation — and with millions of Texans, class action exposure is enormous for companies that fail to protect Texan data.
