Connecticut Personal Data Privacy and Online Monitoring Act (CTDPA) & § 36a-701b
Connecticut enacted a comprehensive privacy law in 2022 (CTDPA) that adds strong protections on top of the existing breach notification statute. Notification is required within 60 days and Connecticut specifically requires companies to offer free credit monitoring for breaches involving Social Security numbers.
Connecticut residents whose Social Security numbers were exposed are entitled by law to free credit monitoring. If a company failed to provide this, you have additional grounds for a claim.
